These are items in the project to upgrade and expand National Highway 1 (now Le Kha Pieu Street) from Kinh Duong Vuong Street to the border of Tay Ninh province (formerly Long An province), with a total investment of about VND 16,285 billion under the BOT (build - operate - transfer) form.
The project is over 9.6km long, expanding the road surface from the current status of 20 - 25m (4 - 6 lanes) to 60m, accommodating 10 - 12 lanes.
Notably, many more overpasses and underpasses at major intersections will be built on the route to synchronize with the expansion of the road surface.
Intersection with Kinh Duong Vuong Street: Build a 4-lane overpass on National Highway 1 over Kinh Duong Vuong Street and Tran Dai Nghia Street. Below, the section from An Lac roundabout to Tran Dai Nghia street will be renovated and expanded.

Binh Thuan Intersection: Currently a diamond intersection with the National Highway 1 overpass (4 lanes) across Nguyen Van Linh. The new investment plan will build 2 more parallel overpasses (each side has 2 lanes) on National Highway 1.
At the same time, 2 underpasses (2 lanes per tunnel) will be built connecting Nguyen Van Linh Street with the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong Expressway access road; along with 2 pedestrian overpasses.

Binh Dien Bridge: Currently, there are 2 bridges with a total of 6 lanes. In the project, Ho Chi Minh City will build an additional unit on the right side of the bridge with a scale of 6 lanes, 28.5m wide.
This project not only doubles the capacity of road traffic but also ensures waterway traffic. The bridge is designed with a clearance of 60x7m, creating favorable conditions for ships to pass.

Recently, the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued a Decision approving the Architectural Project Competition Plan for Kinh Duong Vuong Overpass, Binh Dien Bridge and construction items at Binh Thuan intersection.
The entrance exam aims to select an optimal, modern, highly feasible solution and create an architectural highlight for the southern gateway area of the city.
According to the plan, the selection of investors and signing of BOT contracts will be completed by the end of 2025. The site clearance work will last until the end of 2026. If on schedule, the project will start construction in 2026 and be completed and put into operation in 2028.

According to the Department of Construction, National Highway 1 through Binh Chanh District is a vital route connecting Ho Chi Minh City with the Western provinces, and is also connected with many important traffic axes such as Vo Van Kiet Avenue, Nguyen Van Linh Street, Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong Expressway and Mien Tay Bus Station.
However, the road is currently only 20 - 25m wide, often overloaded, especially during peak hours and holidays and Tet.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction believes that upgrading and expanding National Highway 1 when combined with Ring Roads 2, 3 and 4 will form a smooth traffic axis, helping to quickly circulate between economic and industrial centers in the area, while also acting as an inter-regional connecting route and the southern gateway of the city.
