Dozens of meters of embankment have serious landslides
According to Do Son ward authorities, due to storm No. 3 Wipha, fierce big waves continuously hit the beach embankment area of Zone 2, causing serious landslides, peeling off concrete patches, posing a risk to the safety of people and tourists.
According to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, hundreds of meters of sidewalks along the coast of Do Son 2 are surrounded by iron fences and warning signs of danger. Inside, there are many sections that have sunk and landslides, the most landslide area is about 5 meters long and about 1 meter deep. At the foot of the sea dyke, there are also broken sections that have been reinforced.
Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper reported on the deterioration and breakage of Do Son sea dyke in many areas, causing loss of beauty of the sea tourism area as well as risking the safety of people and tourists.
Urgently reinforce and overcome
It is known that immediately after storm No. 3, the local government and the forces of Hai Phong Public Works and Tourism Services Joint Stock Company urgently reinforced this area. The Department of Construction has also directed Hai Phong Public Works and Tourism Services Joint Stock Company to close stone cages and temporarily repair landslides.
The locality has also fenced off the outside and fenced off the inside to warn people and tourists not to be near the landslide area and there is a risk of landslides to ensure safety.
Voters of Do Son district (old) once made recommendations at the 18th session of the 16th Hai Phong City People's Council on the deterioration of Do Son sea embankment. At the end of 2024, in a document responding to voters' petitions, the People's Committee of Hai Phong City informed: To ensure the landscape and safety of the sea dike system in zones 1 and 2 of Do Son Tourist Area, every year, the Department of Construction has organized an inspection and coordinated with the Department of Finance to develop a plan to repair and maintain the sea dike system and the perimeter yard. In particular, in 2024, the units will repair 142 m2 of the consumption yard in Zone 1 and have a plan to repair and maintain the sea dyke in 2025 with a budget of about more than 2 billion VND. The People's Committee of Hai Phong City also directed relevant departments, branches, units and localities to balance capital sources to repair and maintain the sea dyke system to meet voters' requirements.
