The above information was announced by Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang at the 3rd Conference of the Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee for the term 2025 - 2030, held on the morning of January 7.
According to the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, the conference will consider the policy of adjusting the planning of the project to build roads and sea bridges connecting Can Gio and the Ba Ria - Vung Tau area (formerly), in the form of public-private partnership (PPP), BT contract (build - transfer).

The Can Gio - Vung Tau sea bridge and road project is expected to start construction in June 2026, be completed and put into operation in the second quarter of 2029.
The project has a total length of about 14.67 km, of which the sea bridge section is nearly 11 km long, designed with a scale of 4 motorized lanes and 2 mixed lanes, design speed of 60 km/h.
The bridge uses a cable-stay structure, the main span is 600 m long, and the fairway is 55 m. The access road section is nearly 3.8 km long, with a design speed of 80 km/h.

The route starts at Bien Dong 2 road (Can Gio sea encroachment urban area) and ends at Sao Mai - Ben Dinh road, intersecting with 30/4 road (Tam Thang ward).
The expected total investment of the project is about 104,410 billion VND according to the BT contract. The investor mobilizes 100% of owner's equity and commercial loans; The State pays with a counterpart land fund.
Along with the sea-crossing project, the conference also considered the policy of adjusting the investment capital source for the Thu Thiem 4 bridge construction project.
According to the plan, Thu Thiem 4 bridge is expected to start construction in the fourth quarter of 2026 and be completed in the fourth quarter of 2028.
The project has a total length of the entire route of more than 2.1 km, of which the bridge section is more than 1.6 km long, with a scale of 8 lanes, and a navigation clearance of 15 m.
