On February 5th, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction said that in the period leading up to Tet, the demand for transporting goods and traveling through the Tan Son Nhat airport area is increasing, putting great pressure on the traffic system of Truong Son, Cong Hoa, Truong Chinh, Phan Thuc Duyen, Bach Dang, Hong Ha streets.
Faced with this reality, the city has simultaneously implemented many solutions to limit congestion and ensure smooth traffic.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, functional forces will strengthen coordination with traffic police to adjust the traffic light cycle at intersections on the Truong Son - Bach Dang - Hong Ha - Phan Thuc Duyen - Cong Hoa - Truong Chinh axes, in accordance with the actual traffic flow at each time.
Traffic police will promote "cold" fines through images both inside and around Tan Son Nhat airport.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction will adjust the traffic light system according to the "green wave" at 3 intersections on Truong Chinh street, including intersections with Tan Son Nhi, Tan Ky Tan Quy and Cong Hoa streets. This solution aims to help vehicles circulate continuously, increasing vehicle exit capacity on the Truong Chinh - Tan Ky Tan Quy - Au Co axes.
Along with that, the city will adjust the median strip on Truong Chinh street to increase the width of the mixed-use vehicle section, optimize traffic flow and reduce traffic congestion in the area. This item is expected to be completed in 2026.
Especially on Cong Hoa street, the median strip from Truong Chinh to Lang Cha Ca steel overpass will be renovated and trimmed to create more lanes, allowing flexible traffic regulation during peak hours. The project is also expected to be completed in 2026.

In the context of the upcoming deployment of Metro Line No. 2 (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong) on Truong Chinh street, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction is studying the construction of an underpass under Tham Luong bridge to create a car turnaround point, and at the same time close some intersections such as Pham Van Bach, Tay Thanh, Phan Huy Ich. This solution is expected to increase the ability to escape vehicles on the Truong Chinh axis during metro construction.
At the Phan Thuc Duyen - Thang Long intersection, during the afternoon rush hour, the number of vehicles turning left from Phan Thuc Duyen (direction from station T3) to Thang Long is very large, intersecting with the traffic flow going straight from the tunnel to station T3, causing congestion.
To overcome this, the Department of Construction has installed mobile barriers on Phan Thuc Duyen street, assigning traffic police to proactively pull barriers to block intersections during peak hours to limit traffic conflicts and create smooth traffic flow. The Traffic Management Center and technical infrastructure continue to coordinate flexibly to regulate according to the actual situation.
In addition, this unit is also studying a plan to ban cars from Thang Long street turning right into Nguyen Canh Di street during peak hours (from 6am to 9am and from 4pm to 7pm), expected to be submitted to the Department of Construction in February 2026.
