On June 3, Tay Nam Ward Police said that through people's reflections, the Ward Police coordinated with units to conduct an inspection at a house in Group 5, Rach Bap Quarter, Tay Nam Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.
Through inspection, functional forces discovered that Mr. N.V.T (born in 2000) was raising a brocade python in an iron cage with dimensions of about 80cm x 50cm x 100cm. At the time of inspection, the animal was still alive.
Through the identification of specialized agencies, the above animal individual is a brocade python, scientific name is Malayopython reticulatus (python reticulatus). This is an endangered, precious and rare animal belonging to group IIB according to the provisions of Circular 85/2025/TT-BNNMT dated December 31, 2025 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment on the management of endangered, precious and rare species.
Currently, functional agencies have made a record of handling the incident. At the same time, implementing the steps according to regulations to rescue, care for and preserve the brocade python individual.
Tay Nam Ward Police recommend that people not arbitrarily hunt, trade, transport or raise wild animals illegally; do not post or advertise wild animal trading on social networks; proactively notify functional agencies when detecting violations related to wild animals.
