In recent days, the weather in the northern mountainous region has turned cold. The low temperature makes the work of workers more difficult, especially those working at night. In the bitter cold, environmental sanitation workers in Thai Nguyen City work diligently.
Recorded by PV in the early morning of December 15, the temperature in Thai Nguyen City dropped below 10°C, dozens of workers were still working hard, going into every alley to clean up. In the quiet space of the mountain town when everyone was in deep sleep, there was only the rustling sound of the bamboo brooms of the cleaners.
Having worked in the industry for over 10 years, Ms. Le Thi Hoa (worker at Thai Nguyen Urban Environment and Construction Joint Stock Company) said that the work is already hard, and winter is even harder. The shift is usually from 11pm to 5am, with 2-4 people in charge of each area, and nearly 50 workers working in the whole city.

"The weather has been getting worse this time, so it's much harder, especially on rainy days. I have to wear warm clothes and gloves to work. There are days when it rains up to my knees. The job chooses the person, not me. The work is hard and cold, but I still try to do my job well and earn money to help my family.
The workload is large so I have to be always on my toes. I'm also happy because I contribute to making the streets cleaner and more beautiful," Ms. Hoa confided.

According to Ms. Hoa, her monthly income is about 6 to 6.5 million VND. During the night shift, colleagues take turns working. Although it is hard, everyone encourages each other to try their best. Working at night, in addition to the cold and rain, there is also the fear of traffic accidents.
Sharing the same sentiment, Mr. Tran Van Tuyen (worker at Thai Nguyen Urban Environment and Construction Joint Stock Company) said that his wife used to work as a janitor. When he went to help his wife on the night shift, he had an accident that affected his knee joint.
"After his leg was affected, his ability to work was reduced, so he decided to apply to work as a janitor at the company. Although the job required working at night and losing sleep, it was not too hard. The worst thing was working the night shift in winter, the cold made it even more difficult. He had to wear full protective gear to ensure his health.

Because I work at night, I am also worried about traffic accidents. Many young people go out late at night without paying attention, speeding and overtaking, which is very dangerous," Mr. Tuyen shared.
According to Mr. Tuyen, if you work the night shift, you have to rest all day the next day to make up for the sleep. Although the work is difficult and tiring, there is still joy in beautifying the streets. Looking at the clean and beautiful street corners, I feel happy and proud of my job.
