Taking care of Tet for the poor
According to the Binh Duong Provincial Electronic Information Portal, the work of taking care of the poor, policy families and disadvantaged social groups during Tet has always received attention, leadership and direction from Party committees at all levels, authorities, the Fatherland Front and organizations in Binh Duong province.
This year, with the desire to contribute to helping everyone and every family celebrate a more joyful, warm and complete traditional Tet, Binh Duong province is planning and actively mobilizing resources to carry out activities to care for policy beneficiaries and social protection in the area.
Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee said that the province is developing a plan to organize delegations of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front to visit policy beneficiaries during the Lunar New Year 2025.
It is expected that the delegation led by Mr. Nguyen Van Loi - Secretary of Binh Duong Provincial Party Committee will visit and give gifts to policy families in Tan An ward, including 30 gifts for poor households and 20 gifts for children in difficult circumstances.
Mr. Vo Van Minh - Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee will visit and give gifts to policy households, poor households, and disadvantaged children in Di An ward, Di An city.
Mr. Nguyen Van Loc - Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Council will visit policy families in An Dien ward, Ben Cat city; visit and give gifts to 30 poor households and 20 children in difficult circumstances here.
The delegation of Mr. Nguyen Loc Ha - Vice Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee will visit poor patients being treated at the hospital.
Departments will also visit and give gifts to orphans, disabled children, the elderly... at social protection facilities.
Tens of billions of dong to take care of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and people with meritorious services
Following the moral principles of "remembering the source of water when drinking" and "repaying gratitude", every year on the occasion of Tet, in Binh Duong, each commune and ward has a plan to take care of Tet for people with meritorious services in the area.
At the provincial level, the budget is always allocated to take care of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and people with meritorious services. Provincial leaders will visit, give gifts, and wish good health to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and people with meritorious services.
According to the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, the province currently has over 64,000 people recognized and receiving preferential treatment for people with revolutionary contributions, including 2,219 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers (22 mothers are still alive); 16,858 martyrs; 6,236 wounded and sick soldiers of all ranks; over 38,800 people with contributions to the revolution, resistance activities, and exposure to toxic substances...
Just counting the activities to take care of the Lunar New Year 2024, all levels have spent support and visited and given Tet gifts to 48,623 beneficiaries, with a total cost of more than 52.4 billion VND.
On the occasion of Tet 2024, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, along with leaders of departments, branches, and People's Committees of localities, also visited, presented gifts, and wished a happy new year to 45 outstanding people. Authorized districts and cities to visit and present gifts to 315 beneficiaries, with a total amount of more than 1.1 billion VND.
Binh Duong Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs said that taking care of Tet as well as policies and improving the living standards of people with meritorious services in the area are always of concern to provincial leaders at all levels.
Based on reviewing the number of meritorious people from localities in the province, the Department has a plan to take good care of the meritorious people during the Lunar New Year 2025 and is waiting for approval from provincial leaders.
Support workers in difficulty to stabilize employment after Tet
Binh Duong is an industrial province with about 1.3 million workers. During the Lunar New Year 2025, it is expected that about 500,000 people will stay in Binh Duong to celebrate Tet.
To take care of workers in difficulty, the Provincial Federation of Labor has requested trade unions at all levels, especially at the grassroots level, to proactively negotiate and propose employers to fully implement the wage regime according to the contract for workers; organize activities to show gratitude and thank workers for their efforts in the year to overcome difficulties and stabilize production with the enterprise; give Tet bonuses, give gifts, support travel expenses, organize year-end parties, lucky draws, and give year-end lucky money to workers...
“On the part of the trade union organization, according to the plan, the total estimated budget to take care of union members and workers during Tet this year is about 272.4 billion VND...” - Ms. Nguyen Kim Loan - President of the Binh Duong Provincial Federation of Labor said.
The Standing Committee of the Binh Duong Provincial Federation of Labor will focus on organizing Tet Sum Vay activities, Trade Union Tet Market, and the Loving Tet program for children orphaned by COVID-19 and children of workers in difficult circumstances.
The provincial trade union supported 1,000 train tickets for workers to return home to celebrate Tet in the central and northern provinces. The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor supported workers in Binh Duong province with 450 train tickets and 80 plane tickets to Vinh (Nghe An) and Noi Bai (Hanoi) airports.
Ms. Nguyen Kim Loan - President of Binh Duong Provincial Federation of Labor - said that based on the survey data, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Federation of Labor has submitted to the leaders of Binh Duong province to continue to pay attention to arranging local budget sources to support disadvantaged workers staying in Binh Duong during Tet this year. The support amount is about 50 billion VND, equivalent to each cash gift of 1 million VND.
