In late March, National Highway 4B (km18 - Km80) the main artery connecting Lang Son with Quang Ninh - became a large construction site. Nearly 60 construction teams are spread across the more than 62km long route, where hundreds of workers are racing against time, with the sun and rain in the mountainous areas to complete the technical traffic before September 30.
After a long period of stagnation due to prolonged rain, land clearance problems and slow disbursement, the project to upgrade National Highway 4B through Lang Son province is entering the final stage. Dozens of construction teams are working continuously day and night, striving to open the technical traffic before September 30, 2025.

With a length of more than 62km and a total investment of nearly VND 2,300 billion, National Highway 4B is not only a transport infrastructure project but also carries the expectation of promoting border development, connecting Lang Son - Cao Bang - Quang Ninh provinces, shortening the time for transporting goods from border gates to seaports.
The project has also received special attention from the Prime Minister, having been directly inspected and directed many times, identifying this as a strategic route to help Lang Son "have a sea" - meaning it can directly access major shipping routes through Hai Phong and Quang Ninh.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Director of the Department of Traffic Infrastructure Management and Construction and Maintenance of Lang Son province said that there are currently nearly 60 construction teams on the entire route under the management of 9 contractors.

At many points, contractors take advantage of dry weather to roll the roadbed, handle dangerous curves, construct bridges and culverts and complete the road surface structure.
In particular, in the Ban Tau bridge area (Tu Doan commune, Loc Binh district), the 6-span bridge has completed the rough construction, ready for the next items.
Mr. Luc Van Hong - commander of a construction contractor at the site - said that the unit has mobilized maximum human resources and equipment with 150 workers, divided into shifts until 10pm.

"We have encountered many difficulties due to the not-so-smooth site and erratic weather. But now everything is smooth, the progress is about 45%, and can accelerate strongly in the coming months," said Mr. Hong.
Not only at the construction site, site clearance work in localities is also being promoted. In Dong Buc commune (Loc Binh district), where hundreds of households were affected, many people were initially hesitant and hesitant because they felt sorry for their land and houses. But after being informed about the long-term benefits, most agreed.
The project is currently stuck with only a few technical infrastructure such as electricity lines, clean water, telecommunication cables, etc. If resolved soon, contractors are confident that they can reach the finish line on schedule, making National Highway 4B a new driving force for the Northern border area.
