Destroyed and devastated are seen at shops in Chau Me village, Sa Huynh ward (Quang Ngai) after the fierce high tide hit on the evening of November 6.

Although people had previously lined up with shops and moved their assets to high-altitude areas, dozens of restaurants and drinking establishments of coastal residents were devastated by waves.
"I have lived here for 20 years, but this is the first time I have seen the sea waves rising and hitting the residential area like that. My family's restaurant was completely destroyed by waves, causing hundreds of millions of VND in damage. My husband has passed away, now I don't know where to get the money to rebuild it to raise my children" - Ms. Nguyen Thi Le (residing in Chau Me village) said.
The situation did not improve in Thach By village, Sa Huynh ward. Here, although the State has invested in building a solid Thach By embankment, large waves still aggressively cross the embankment, massively land into people's houses, and sweep away property.
Ms. Le Thi Tam Em still commented in shock: "At around 8pm, the waves were as good as sunflowers. I could only let go, helplessly watching my assets drift along the sea".
Not only in Sa Huynh, the reporter's records show that many other coastal fishing villages in Quang Ngai have also suffered heavy damage due to waves attacking residential areas.
Mr. Nham Xuan Sy - Deputy Director of the Quang Ngai Province Hydrometeorological Station, said: Last night, high tides, combined with rising sea water and big waves, caused massive waves to flood into coastal areas, causing heavy damage to people's houses.
Currently, Quang Ngai province does not have accurate statistics on the total damage caused by high tides and waves.
However, in Ly Son alone, according to Mr. Nguyen Van Huy - Chairman of Ly Son Special Zone People's Committee, this locality has more than 500 flooded houses.
