From around 6am on September 11, on National Highway 1A, the section passing through Gia Rai Ward, Ca Mau Province, high tides caused local flooding, the deep flooding sections were about 300m long, with some places flooded more than 30cm deep.
In deeply flooded areas, vehicles have difficulty moving, motorbikes have to run up to the side of the road to avoid flooding, cars don't dare to pass through, have to stop waiting for the water to recede.

National Highway 1A through Gia Rai Ward is located near the Bac Lieu - Ca Mau River, so when the tide rises, the water rises very quickly, affecting the daily life, as well as the trade and travel of people in the area.
At around 8:30 a.m. the same day, the water began to recede, many cars were back to normal circulation, and some deeply flooded areas were still partially flooded.
Mr. Tran Van Tam (residing in Gia Rai ward, Ca Mau province) shared: A few days ago, the water also rose, causing flooding, but today there was more flooding. Learning from previous floods, people have proactively moved their household belongings up high, some have built a retaining wall on the Bac Lieu River, so they should limit water from flooding into their houses, while business is limited compared to normal days.

According to the forecast, the peak tide is at alert level 3 (220 m); this is a period of high tide with strong intensity and a large tidal amplitude. This high tide is forecast to last until September 14 (the 23rd of the 7th lunar month), the highest peak tide is 222 cm, appearing at 5:30 a.m. on September 12, with the risk of flooding and landslides in low-lying areas, areas outside the dykes, along rivers, coastal areas... especially areas with high and vulnerable loads.

In response to the above forecast, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to direct its affiliated units to coordinate with local authorities to properly and effectively operate the sewer, dam, and pumping station system to protect production; direct the strengthening of patrols and inspections of sea dykes and vulnerable areas, promptly detecting and handling incidents.

The People's Committees of communes and wards urgently direct the implementation of high tide response work in the locality; at the same time, closely coordinate with the provincial authorities in responding to high tides.
