Thai Nguyen - Heavy rain caused the river water to rise, isolating Na Ri Ethnic Boarding School, more than 270 students had to move to higher floors to avoid flooding.

On October 7, prolonged heavy rain caused the river water to rise, causing Na Ri Ethnic Boarding School ( Na Ri commune, Thai Nguyen province) to be completely isolated and traffic to the school paralyzed.

Ms. Nong Thi Tuyet - Principal of the school - said that more than 270 students are still in the campus. The teachers guided the students to the second and third floors to ensure safety.

Food and provisions were provided promptly and were enough to eat on October 7. The rapidly rising floodwaters made it difficult to reach the school area and poses many potential dangers.

At around 4:00 p.m. the same day, the authorities had taken more than 100 students out of the flooded area and moved them to a safe place. Rescue work is still being carried out continuously.

The authorities are on duty at the scene, preparing a plan to ensure the safety of students, teachers and school assets.

On October 7, due to complicated weather developments, many schools in Thai Nguyen announced that students would temporarily stop going to class, switch to online learning or drop out of school to ensure safety.

Previously, on October 5, the Thai Nguyen Department of Education and Training issued a document directing educational institutions to respond to storm No. 11, be on duty 24 hours and absolutely not to let unsafe incidents occur.
