On July 24, Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee said that Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan decided to posthumously award a certificate of merit to soldier Kpa Thiep (born in 2006, residing in Tao Roong village, Ia Ko commune, Gia Lai; Jarai ethnicity), belonging to the Guards Platoon, Staff Department, Regiment 28, Division 10, Army Corps 34, Ministry of National Defense.
According to Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, Sergeant Kpa Thiep has made particularly outstanding achievements, bravely rescuing people in distress in the Tai Per village area, Ia Ko commune.
Previously, Corporal Kpa Thiep was granted leave by the unit from 6:00 AM on July 19 to 6:00 PM on July 30 to visit his family in Tao Roong village, Ia Ko commune.
At noon on July 20, after working in the fields with his wife to help the family, on the way home, soldier Kpa Thiep discovered 2 people electrocuted unconscious. Without hesitation, the soldier quickly rushed in to pull the victims out of the dangerous area. After rescuing 2 people, all 3 fainted due to electric shock.
People quickly took the victims to Chu Se General Hospital for emergency treatment. 2 people were out of danger and recovered their health, but Corporal Kpa Thiep did not survive.
According to the conclusion of the Gia Lai Provincial Forensic Center, soldier Kpa Thiep suffered shock due to heart fibrillation leading to extreme heart failure due to electric shock, and there were no injuries to his whole body due to external force.
The People's Committee of Chu Se commune awarded Certificates of Merit to soldier Kpa Thiep for his brave action of sacrificing himself to save people in distress.
On July 22, Division 10 decided to promote soldier Kpa Thiep's rank from Corporal to Senior Sergeant to recognize his courageous act of rescuing people.
The actions of soldier Kpa Thiep are a beautiful symbol of the qualities of a revolutionary soldier, showing the spirit of courage, willingness to sacrifice oneself to protect the lives of the people. The example of soldier Kpa Thiep will continue to spread, becoming a motivation for officers and soldiers throughout the Army Corps to learn and follow.
