From the roadblock house to the property next to the new boulevard

Nearly 3 years after Mr. Do Hai Ly agreed to clear the house located in the middle of the inter-regional road connecting Phu Tho - Lao Cai, his family's life has changed a lot.

The inter-regional road project connecting Ho Chi Minh Road with National Highway 70B, National Highway 32C from Phu Tho province to Yen Bai province (now Lao Cai province) has a total adjusted investment of 2,120 billion VND.

To date, the project has completed the construction of all construction packages, including: Main line 53.5km long; branch line connecting Cam Khe industrial park 3.083km long and extended line connecting National Highway 32 3.726km long.

At the end of October 2023, Lao Dong Newspaper had an article reflecting the fact that a level 4 house of about 80m2 was located right in the middle of the main inter-regional road, creating an image of a rare "knot" on the large construction site, hindering the project construction progress.

That is the house owned by Mr. Do Hai Ly's family in area 16 Van Thang, Dong Luong commune. Previously, Mr. Ly's family had refused compensation 4 times, disagreeing to clear the house.

After the article of Lao Dong Newspaper was published, relevant agencies intervened and the obstacles were removed. On November 6, 2023, Mr. Ly's family officially agreed to receive compensation and site clearance support. Immediately after that, Mr. Ly's house was dismantled, and the clean site was handed over to the construction unit to continue completing the project. The case was resolved definitively without the need for administrative coercion measures.

Returning to Dong Luong commune and meeting Mr. Hai Ly in the early days of September 2026, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters recorded that the place that used to be Mr. Ly's house in the middle of the road has now become a spacious intersection, with traffic bustling. For Mr. Ly's family, difficult life has passed. Leaving the farming behind, he is focusing on building a 2-story restaurant according to the design of a stilt house, steel frame structure on the land left by his parents, adjacent to the inter-regional road intersection.

Mr. Ly recounted that after receiving compensation of 570 million VND, he used a portion of the money to pay taxes to serve the conversion of land use purpose to residential land of his family. This land area is 400m2 wide, opposite the current restaurant.

Then, right at the time when land prices were high, his family sold 300m2 out of a total of 400m2 of land for about 3 billion VND. Selling the land at a good price, Mr. Ly decided to invest more than 2 billion VND to build a restaurant, taking advantage of the prime location in the intersection to do business.

I focus on business first, then when I have the conditions, I will build a house later" - Mr. Ly shared.

Although Mr. Ly's restaurant is still in the process of completion, some groups of guests have come to book tables and organize parties recently.

Thank you Lao Dong Newspaper that day for promptly providing information, helping to remove obstacles, my hometown soon had a new road, and my family had the opportunity to rise up" - Mr. Ly confided.

Also from the series of articles "Houses located in the middle of inter-regional roads", in June 2024, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters were honored to receive the B Award - Phu Tho Provincial Press Award for the XIV time.
