Handing over keys to 9 disaster-resistant houses to Da Nang residents

Da Nang - The new key was awarded, opening up a safer home for many disadvantaged people in Que Son and Que Son Trung.

On August 28, in Que Son and Que Son Trung communes (Da Nang City), Habitat for Humanity Vietnam (HFHV) organized a house handover and farewell ceremony for the international volunteer delegation under the Vietnam Special Build 2026 program with the theme "Home Matters - Home is Important".

The program gathers volunteers from Habitat for Humanity Metro Denver and Habitat for Humanity Asia-Pacific region; students from Japan, staff from business partners Thrivent, Eaton and TTI, and other volunteers from the United States, Australia, Belgium and Singapore.

Accompanying local volunteers, the delegation worked directly with beneficiary families to complete it. Handed over 9 houses with natural disaster resistance, supporting 16 low-income and vulnerable households.

The program also creates opportunities for dozens of volunteers from domestic businesses to participate in practical community service activities.

Not only bringing a safer place to live, the program also transferred disaster-resistant housing construction techniques to Que Son and Que Son Trung commune authorities.

Through this, knowledge and standards on safe housing can continue to be applied in projects implemented by localities in the coming time.

Speaking at the program, Ms. Le Thi Lap, Vice Chairwoman of Que Son Commune People's Committee, Da Nang City, said that in recent days, from August 24 to August 28, the international volunteer delegation was present in Que Son and Que Son Trung communes to join people in participating in housing construction activities.

“This is not only a material support activity, but also sharing, volunteering and spreading profound human values. The presence of volunteers, with enthusiasm, responsibility and friendliness, has brought supported households joy, encouragement and faith in a better life.

Works that seem very simple but are done with all their hearts have left beautiful feelings and images in the hearts of local people in the 2 communes," Ms. Lap emphasized.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hue, Country Director of Habitat for Humanity Vietnam, said that the Home Matters Special Build program clearly shows the values that Habitat pursues, which is connecting people together, crossing geographical boundaries and differences in circumstances. At the same time, to build not only a home but also a community and hope.
