On January 16, the 9th session of the 10th Dong Nai Provincial People's Council considered and approved the draft Resolution unifying the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee as the competent authority to implement the Thu Thiem - Long Thanh railway line Construction Investment Project in the form of public-private partnership (PPP).
The Thu Thiem - Long Thanh railway line project has its starting point at Thu Thiem station (An Khanh ward, Ho Chi Minh City) and ending point at Long Thanh station (Long Thanh airport, Long Thanh commune, Dong Nai province), the length of the line is 42km, the number of stations is about 20, 1 depot is located in Xuan Duong commune (Dong Nai province).
The total estimated investment is about 84,753 billion VND, of which compensation, support and resettlement costs are about 5,504 billion VND. The project implementation period is from 2025 to 2031.
According to the People's Committee of Dong Nai province, Long Thanh airport is expected to be completed and put into commercial operation from mid-2026. However, the transportation system connecting Long Thanh airport with the center of Ho Chi Minh City is currently limited.
Therefore, the traffic connection between Tan Son Nhat airport and Long Thanh airport has been identified by the Steering Committee for National Important Projects as a priority investment project in the current period.
In which, the Thu Thiem - Long Thanh railway line is a strategic transport connection between Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai province, contributing to strengthening regional linkages, shortening travel time and serving the travel needs of passengers, especially experts and investors at home and abroad.
When implemented, the project is expected to meet the increasing demand for passenger transport, while reducing pressure on the overloaded road transport system, especially in urban areas with high population density in Ho Chi Minh City.
The 9th session of the 10th Dong Nai Provincial People's Council also considered including the investment project to build Ring Road 4 HCMC in the list of public investment plans for 2026 of Dong Nai province; Considering deciding on the policy of changing the purpose of forest use to other purposes to implement the Project to build rainwater drainage ditches and wastewater drainage outside the Minh Hung Sikico Industrial Park expansion fence; Considering and approving a Resolution on the list of works and projects to be recovered land in Dong Nai province (supplemented for the first time in 2026).
