At noon on September 19, a series of accidents involving many cars occurred in Thu Thiem tunnel, causing prolonged congestion and affecting traffic towards the center of Ho Chi Minh City.
At around 10am the same day, while vehicles were traveling through Thu Thiem tunnel in the direction from Mai Chi Tho Avenue to Vo Van Kiet Avenue, a truck collided with three cars traveling in the same direction. The accident did not cause any injuries but caused damage to vehicles, causing many people in the car to panic.

Immediately after the incident, the Urban Traffic Management and Operation Center coordinated with the authorities to regulate and handle the scene. However, due to the accident that occurred in the middle of the tunnel and the large traffic flow to the city center, traffic was seriously obstructed.
Thousands of vehicles had to queue up on Mai Chi Tho Avenue, making it very difficult to move. Traffic police were present at the scene to direct traffic, but the congestion was still prolonged.
The cause of the accident is currently being clarified by the authorities.
