Airfares increase compared to normal days
A survey by Lao Dong Newspaper reporters on March 17 showed that air tickets for many routes from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to domestic tourist destinations during the April 30 - May holiday are significantly higher than normal days.
Accordingly, the round-trip ticket price for the Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang route ranges from 2.5 million VND/guest (Vietjet), 3.5 million VND/guest (Bamboo Airways) to about 4.1 million VND/guest (Vietnam Airlines).
This price varies depending on flight time and ticket class. Notably, many prime-time flights have announced their sold-out tickets.

Similarly, airlines are opening tickets for the Ho Chi Minh City - Phu Quoc route for the April 30 holiday at prices twice as high as normal days.
The lowest ticket price for flights departing on April 30 and returning on April 4 - 5 provided by Vietjet, Bamboo Airways and Vietnam Airlines is about 1.8 - 2 million VND/trip, equivalent to 3.6 - 4 million VND for round-trip tickets.
Many families choose to travel independently
Ms. Lan Anh (Dong Da District, Hanoi) said that on the occasion of April 30 this year, her family decided to drive themselves to travel instead of traveling by plane.
"The airfares have increased too much compared to normal days, so my family chose to take a personal car. Destinations not too far from Hanoi such as Ninh Binh, Ha Long, Hai Phong... are reasonable choices because they are both convenient and cost-effective," Ms. Lan Anh shared.
According to her, the lowest cost of airfares for a family of 4 is about 14 - 15 million VND, while this amount can be enough for a self-sufficient trip by private car.
Mr. Bui Thanh Tu - Marketing Director of BestPrice Travel Company - said that this year, the demand for holiday travel is not only more diverse but also has a balance between the domestic and international markets, instead of the difference as in previous years.
"The prices of tours during the holidays are expected to increase by about 20 - 30% compared to normal days. For example, Thailand tours are usually around 7 - 8 million VND/person, but during the holidays, they can range from 10 million VND/person," said Mr. Tu.

Mr. Tu also commented that currently, the demand for independent travel of customers has increased sharply. This trend mainly comes from private car owners who prefer to travel with friends or family for a more flexible and cost-effective experience than booking a package tour.
'' airfares have increased sharply almost every year near the holiday due to increased travel demand. This is a common trend in the market, so people should proactively book tickets early to reduce cost pressure'', Mr. Bui Thanh Tu advised.
