Recorded by reporters on March 6, on some central streets of Ho Chi Minh City such as Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Ba Huyen Thanh Quan, Vo Van Tan, Cach Mang Thang Tam, Nguyen Thi Dieu..., many sidewalk sections are occupied to park motorbikes.
On Nguyen Thi Minh Khai street, motorbikes are lined up in front of shops, eateries and cafes. Some sidewalks are almost completely filled, pedestrians have to move down to the road.

A similar situation also appeared on Ba Huyen Thanh Quan, Vo Van Tan, Nguyen Thi Dieu streets, where many service and office establishments are concentrated. At noon and afternoon, the number of vehicles parked on sidewalks increases, narrowing the pedestrian path.
On Cach Mang Thang Tam street, many sidewalk sections along the road feature rows of motorbikes stretching out. In some areas near crowded eateries, motorbikes are parked close together, occupying most of the walkway area.
Mr. Hoang Vien Chinh, working in Xuan Hoa ward, said: "Many sections of sidewalks are full of parked vehicles, pedestrians no longer have space to walk, so they have to go down to the road, which is very dangerous when there is a lot of traffic.
Meanwhile, Ms. Tran Thi Lan, working at an office on Vo Van Tan street, said that this situation appears quite often.
There are times when the sidewalks almost have no walkways left. Pedestrians, especially the elderly or children, have to go down to the road to avoid vehicles," Ms. Lan said.

Over the past time, units directly under the Traffic Police Department (PC08), Ho Chi Minh City Police, in coordination with the People's Committee and police of wards and communes, have repeatedly organized campaigns to restore order on roads and sidewalks. However, in some areas, the situation of motorbikes parked on sidewalks still occurs.
From January 15 to January 19, Hang Xanh Traffic Police Team (PC08 Department) in coordination with the People's Committee and police of Gia Dinh, Binh Loi Trung, Hanh Thong, An Nhon wards... handled more than 160 cases of violations related to sidewalk and road encroachment.
The main violations include: using sidewalks for food service business; illegal parking; using pushcarts as mobile stalls; displaying goods on roads with prohibited regulations.
PC08 Department said that from January 15 to early February 2026, affiliated units have made records of 133 violations with the offense of driving vehicles on sidewalks.
In the coming time, the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police force said that it will continue to coordinate with relevant units to maintain campaigns, focusing on roads and areas where the situation of driving, parking and encroaching on sidewalks often recurs, thereby restoring urban order and ensuring traffic safety in the city.
