Vinh Long completes and exceeds 19/24 main socio-economic targets

In 2025, Vinh Long province will achieve many outstanding results in socio-economic development. The effective operation of the two-level local government model contributes to improving operational efficiency, creating clear changes in the organization and implementation of development tasks.

According to the People's Committee of Vinh Long province, by the end of 2025, Vinh Long province has completed and exceeded 19/24 main targets on socio-economic development. Many important indicators are achieved and exceeded in the plan such as economic growth, budget revenue, per capita income, new rural construction, business development and social security.

The GRDP growth rate in 2025 is estimated at 5.84%. In particular, the service sector increased by 8.28%, continuing to be an important driving force of the economy. GRDP per capita reached about 82.25 million VND, an increase of nearly 13% compared to 2024, people's lives have gradually improved.

Finance and budget work recorded positive results when the total state budget revenue in the area reached VND 22,448 billion, exceeding the estimate by nearly 5%. Total social investment capital is estimated at more than VND 70,928 billion. The investment and business environment has improved, the number of newly established enterprises has reached 2,950 units, far exceeding the set plan.

Traffic infrastructure continues to be a highlight in 2025. The inauguration of Rach Mieu 2 Bridge, the start of construction of Dinh Khao Bridge and many key projects such as Dai Ngai Bridge and Ba Lai 8 Bridge are being accelerated, contributing to strengthening inter-regional connectivity and expanding development space for the province.

In the agricultural sector, rice output reached more than 1.9 million tons. High-quality, low-emission rice production models help farmers increase profits by about 30%. By the end of the year, the whole province had 98/105 communes meeting new rural standards. Export activities remained stable with a turnover of about 5,660 million USD.

Entering 2026, Vinh Long has determined to continue to perfect the apparatus, promote digital transformation, focus on disbursing public investment capital, prioritize transport infrastructure projects, renewable energy, while ensuring social security, creating a foundation for sustainable growth.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Tran Van Lau - Secretary of Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee - emphasized that in 2025, many important results will be achieved but there are still 5 targets that have not been completed, it is necessary to clearly analyze the objective and subjective reasons, draw profound lessons, adjust the scenario, and be determined to achieve and exceed in the coming year.

Regarding the activities of local government at both levels, Mr. Lau emphasized the priority of stabilizing organization and staff, strengthening solidarity in leadership and management; issues with different opinions must unify general criteria and principles, promote decentralization associated with legal improvement, and improve staff capacity.

In economic development, Mr. Lau affirmed that agriculture continues to be a pillar but needs to shift to deep processing, high technology; considering businesses as a driving force for development, nurturing small businesses, removing bottlenecks, accelerating public investment, reforming procedures, maintaining security and order.

Receiving the direction, Mr. Tran Tri Quang - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Vinh Long province - said that the double-digit economic growth target is built on 4 pillars including productivity, science and technology, institutions and human resources, to create a foundation for rapid and sustainable development for Vinh Long province.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Finance to develop a growth scenario for each quarter, focusing on solutions to increase sustainable budget revenue, resolutely remove bottlenecks in public investment disbursement, reform administration, prepare clean land, competitive rental prices, and prioritize clean energy.

Mr. Tran Tri Quang emphasized that in 2026, efforts must be made from the beginning of the year, committing the Provincial People's Committee and departments and branches to solidarity, democracy, openness, and drastic management, striving to achieve the highest of the GRDP growth and budget collection targets set.
