On the morning of October 1, in Lang Giang village, Bao Thang commune, a serious pond break occurred, causing 4 workers to be swept away by water. The incident left 1 person dead, 1 person missing and 2 people injured.
According to initial information, at around 5am the same day, 4 workers hired by Ms. Ngo Thi Dung's family (Lang Giang village) came to the fish pond area to work. Suddenly, the pond bank broke, and the water rushed the group down the stream.
The incident injured Ms. Ly Thi Dan (born in 1985) and her husband, Mr. Tan A Than (born in 1987), residing in Nam Ma commune, Lai Chau province, and are being treated at Lao Cai General Hospital No. 2.

At noon of the same day, the authorities found the body of Ms. Tan Thi Niem (born in 1976, residing in Nam Tam commune, Lai Chau). The remaining victim, Ly A Hien (born in 1979, Ms. Niem's husband), has not yet been found.
Immediately after the incident, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Bao Thang commune mobilized local forces to conduct the search.

However, due to continued heavy rain and landslides, the rescue team could only observe the surface and could not reach the scene below the buried rock and soil.
Leaders of the Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of Bao Thang commune directly visited, encouraged, and supported the injured victims being treated at the hospital.

Local authorities also urgently propagate and mobilize people in areas along streams, high slopes, near ponds, lakes, streams, etc. to proactively move to safe places to prevent landslides and flash floods.
