On February 22, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Pham Hoang An - Deputy Head of My Khe Beach Management Team said that despite great efforts, functional forces have not yet found the body of Mr. Tran Ngoc Trieu (born 1988), the missing victim in the drowning incident that occurred yesterday afternoon at My Khe beach, Tinh Khe commune, Quang Ngai province.
Previously, at about 3 pm on January 21, Tinh Khe Commune Police received a report of the incident in Co Luy village area. The three victims included Mr. Tran Ngoc Trieu and two children, Tran Ngoc Kim Ngan (13 years old) and Tran Ngoc Gia Phat (10 years old), both residing in Dak Lak province. Immediately after discovering the incident, local people promptly rescued baby Tran Ngoc Kim Ngan and took her to a medical facility for emergency treatment. Currently, the baby's health has passed the critical stage and is being monitored and treated.
At about 3:50 pm on the same day, functional forces found the body of Tran Ngoc Gia Phat more than 100 meters from the accident area and handed it over to his family for funeral arrangements.
The remaining victim is Mr. Tran Ngoc Trieu (38 years old) who is still missing. Functional forces are still actively coordinating and deploying search plans for Mr. Trieu.
During the Binh Ngo Tet holiday in 2026, functional forces recommend that people and tourists when swimming in My Khe beach should choose the main beach area, where rescue forces are on duty; limit swimming offshore, avoid deserted areas. Do not be subjective when using buoys because there is still a risk of encountering offshore currents and dangerous whirlpools.
