Passenger car carrying 21 people loses brakes, plunges into hillside in Sa Pa

Lao Cai - A passenger car carrying 21 people visiting Truc Lam Zen Monastery in Sa Pa suddenly lost control and plunged into a negative slope.

On February 22, the Traffic Police Department - Lao Cai Provincial Police informed that functional forces are investigating a car accident that crashed into a hillside in Sa Pa ward.

Previously, at about 4 pm on February 21, in the area of the road to Sau Chua, belonging to Sa Pa 4 residential group, Sa Pa ward, a 29-seater tourist car with license plate: 99E-018XX while moving in the internal area of Truc Lam Zen Monastery suddenly lost control and plunged into a negative slope and stopped at a location about 10m from the road surface.

Functional forces quickly arrived at the scene to organize rescue and relief.

According to traffic police officers, the location where the incident occurred is within the internal infrastructure of the Zen Monastery, not belonging to the public transport system.

At the time of the accident, there were 21 people in the car, including 20 injured (1 victim was transferred to General Hospital No. 2 of Lao Cai province for treatment; 1 victim was transferred to Viet Duc Hospital (Hanoi) for treatment as requested; the rest are being treated at General Hospital No. 4 of Lao Cai province).

At the scene, the front of the car was heavily damaged, the windshield and windows on both sides of the car were broken.

The initial cause was determined to be a sudden brake failure leading to the incident.
