On the afternoon of March 25, the Office of the National Steering Committee for Civil Defense provided information related to bridge and pontoon assurance; natural disasters; fires; search and rescue work.
Regarding the work of ensuring pontoon bridges, during the day, the Engineering Corps mobilized 160 officers, soldiers and 84 vehicles of all kinds, maintaining the operation of the Song Lo pontoon bridge, ensuring safe passage for 4,962 people and vehicles.
The report also clearly stated about natural disasters, damage caused by hail in Tung Vai and Nghia Thuan communes/Tuyen Quang, causing roofs to be blown off and 101 houses damaged; damage to 100ha of crops. Tuyen Quang Provincial Border Guard Command dispatched 40 officers and soldiers to coordinate with localities to participate in overcoming the consequences.
Regarding the fire, at 5:52 PM on March 24, at house number 218 Linh Nam, Hoang Mai ward, Hanoi City, a house fire occurred.
8 people were slightly burned, taken to the hospital for health check, the cause was an electrical short circuit. Local authorities mobilized 18 people (Army: 3; Militia: 15), 5 fire truck crews in coordination with local forces to extinguish the fire at 6:40 pm on the same day.
At 5:20 PM on March 24, at No. 288, DX-077 street, Dinh Hoa 3 neighborhood, Chanh Hiep ward, Ho Chi Minh City, a fire occurred at Vietnam GOLDRFUL TEXTILE Company, the cause is being verified.
The locality mobilized 124 people (Police: 101; Militia: 23), 20 fire trucks to coordinate with local forces to extinguish the fire at 7:50 pm on the same day.
Another incident at 1:00 AM on March 25, in Vam Dam hamlet, Tan Tien commune, Ca Mau, a fire occurred, burning 13 houses, the cause was an electrical short circuit. The locality mobilized 22 militiamen and local forces to extinguish the fire at 3:30 AM on the same day.
Regarding search and rescue work, at 11:00 AM on March 24, Ngan Khanh 268 transport ship of MIT Transport Co., Ltd., with a tonnage of 2, 254 tons, including 9 crew members, captained by Mr. Nguyen Van Chung (born 1974, residing in Tho Thanh village, Quynh Phu commune, Nghe An), carrying 1,545 tons of concrete piles from Hai Phong, docked at Long Son Port, Nghi Son ward, Thanh Hoa; while towing goods, the cable slipped, the concrete piles fell onto the ship, piercing through 2 bottom layers, causing water to overflow into the hold, and sinking.
Thanh Hoa Provincial Border Guard Command dispatched 10 officers and soldiers to rescue 9 crew members ashore safely, coordinating with relevant forces to overcome the incident. Currently, there are about 8,000 liters of Diesel oil in the safe that has been safely locked.
According to general assessments, ministries, branches, and localities strictly maintain duty regimes, proactively grasp the situation, and promptly mobilize forces and vehicles to extinguish fires, overcome the consequences of natural disasters and rescue at sea.
