Unbelievable scene in the city center
Dong Khe 2 route (Le Quang Dao road) is nearly 2 km long with a total investment of more than 1,357 billion VND and has been put into use since the beginning of 2022. This is considered one of the most beautiful routes in the city, contributing to the development of modern transport infrastructure and urban areas and reducing congestion on the beltway axes in and out of the central area.
However, this area often has theft of waste and scrap on both sides of the sidewalk. In particular, the flower garden connecting Le Quang Dao Street with the An Bien Lake road (in front of An Da pagoda area) is shabby, causing prolonged frustration among the people.
Recorded by Lao Dong reporter on the morning of September 18, the triangle flower garden area is hundreds of square meters wide, one side is adjacent to Le Quang Dao street, the two sides are adjacent to the road leading to An Bien lake, with overgrown weeds, higher than the head of a person. Many trees have tilted and withered but have not been renovated or replaced. Around the flower garden, along the path, the walking path is broken with bricks and stones, littered with scrap and garbage. Many areas show signs of garbage burning, the burning smell along with the stench from garbage that has been accumulated for a long time, causing many people passing by here to "hold their breath".
Ms. Nguyen Ha (35 years old, Gia Vien ward) said: "It is hard to believe that in the city center, the flower garden is so shabby and polluted. Many times my family went to exercise and saw the garbage burning and the smoke billowing. We really hope the city will soon solve this problem, so that people have space for living and exercising".
Lao Dong reporters also recorded the dumping and incineration of waste on some sidewalks. The median strip of trees has not been trimmed, obstructing the visibility of traffic participants.
What does the locality say?
On the morning of September 18, speaking with Lao Dong, the leader of Gia Vien Ward People's Committee said that this area is located in Gia Vien Ward but the entire route is under the management of the Department of Construction and has not been handed over to the locality for management.
The locality has grasped the shabby situation on Le Quang Dao Street as well as received many complaints from the people. The ward has also sent a document requesting the Department of Construction to take remedial measures, however, up to now, the flower garden area has not been handled, causing public outrage.
Recently, the ward has also implemented the cleaning of the sidewalk area in front of the gate of Dang Giang Primary School. Regarding the flower bed area of the median strip, after the locality made a recommendation, the management unit recently also allowed pruning but only for some areas.
"If handed over to the locality, we will clean and renovate regularly, not to let the current situation happen" - said the leader of Gia Vien ward.
