On the evening of June 2, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Pham Anh Hao - Chairman of Son Kim 1 Commune People's Committee said that the cause of 4 deaths on the Ngan Pho River was boat capsizing.
According to Mr. Hao, on the afternoon of June 2, Ms. Pham Thi N (born in 1990, residing in Duc Tho commune, Ha Tinh province) brought her daughter Nguyen Thuy D (born in 2021) and two biological grandchildren Pham Quynh A (born in 2014) and Pham Minh T (born in 2016, residing in Che Bien village, Son Kim 2 commune) to her hometown in Son Kim 1 commune to play.
At this time, they discovered a boat of local people anchored on the Ngan Pho riverbank in Vung Tron village, Son Kim 1 commune, so all 4 people got on the boat and rowed for a walk.
While moving on the river, the boat unfortunately capsized, causing all 4 people to fall into the water.
Discovering the incident, local people and functional forces organized a search, and by late afternoon of the same day, the bodies of 4 victims were found.
After that, functional agencies handed over the victims to their families to organize funerals and burials according to local customs.
Initially, functional agencies determined that the cause of death of the victims was drowning after the boat capsized.
