On the afternoon of September 10, at the September 2024 press conference and information provision, Mr. Nguyen Ha Loc - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lam Dong province said that the main cause of diarrhea in dairy cows is due to infection with Pestivirus tauri (BVDV type 2) after vaccination with Navet - LpVac vaccine of NaVetCo Central Veterinary Medicine Joint Stock Company (Navetco Company).
The leader of Navetco Company confirmed that the incident of cattle getting diarrhea and dying in Lam Dong was due to the injection of Navet - LpVac vaccine provided by the supplier. Navetco Company committed to fulfilling its responsibility to compensate for damages to livestock farmers.
Regarding this incident, from August 15, 2024, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has coordinated with the People's Committees of districts in Lam Dong province and Navetco Company to draft a compensation plan for damage to the sick cow herd.
Lam Dong province has established a working group to support compensation for damage to dairy cows suffering from diarrhea, with the Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development as the head of the group.
The People's Committees of Don Duong and Duc Trong districts presided over and coordinated with the Working Group, Navetco Company and representatives of livestock farms in the area to survey the level of compensation for damage to the herd of sick cows.
Previously, on August 30, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development sent a document to the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee requesting Navetco Company to coordinate with localities to complete the collection, statistics, and confirmation of the list and information of damaged livestock farms. This work must be completed before September 10.
Then, organize a meeting to agree on a plan with all damaged livestock farms in the localities, to be completed before September 20. After completing the plan, the Working Group will coordinate with local authorities to organize compensation payments to damaged livestock farms immediately after September 20, 2024.
According to Mr. Huynh Minh Hai - Deputy Head of the Propaganda Department of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee, the viewpoint of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee is that after clearly identifying the cause of the above incident, the responsible unit must compensate the people appropriately.
The motto is not to let people suffer but must be fair, open and transparent, ensuring compliance with the law. At the same time, it is requested that the Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development, Finance... soon announce the compensation plan so that people know.

As of August 2, 9,126 dairy cows had been vaccinated in Don Duong, Duc Trong, Lam Ha, Di Linh, Cat Tien districts and Bao Loc city. After 7-10 days of vaccination, the dairy cows showed symptoms of anorexia, fever, diarrhea and some died.
As of 4 p.m. on September 9, 6,331 cows from 352 households in 20 communes of Duc Trong, Don Duong, Lam Ha, Di Linh districts and Bao Loc city had been sick. The total number of cows that died was 470 from 195 households. In addition, up to this point, 5,619 cows have recovered, while 242 are still sick.
