At about 10:30 am on July 12, a serious traffic accident occurred in the Ban Pass area, Chan Thinh commune, Lao Cai province.
At the above time, a tractor-trailer with license plate 19H-071.74, pulling a semi-trailer with license plate 19RM-002.75, was moving downhill when it suddenly lost control and crashed into a roadside house.
The strong collision caused part of the house to collapse. The front of the tractor-trailer was seriously deformed, the cabin was crushed, and the driver was trapped inside.

Talking to PV, Mr. Truong Manh Quyet - Chairman of Chan Thinh Commune People's Committee - said that immediately after receiving the news, local authorities, police, medical forces and functional units quickly arrived at the scene, organized rescue, relief and traffic regulation.
Due to the deformed car cabin, functional forces had to mobilize excavators, cranes and specialized vehicles to dismantle and take the driver out. The victim was then taken to a medical facility for emergency treatment but died on the way.
According to initial information from local authorities, the victim is a male, over 40 years old, from Phu Tho province.
The initial cause of the accident was determined to be related to the car losing brakes while going downhill.
Currently, functional agencies are continuing to investigate and clarify the accident.
