On July 12, in an exchange with Lao Dong Newspaper, leaders of Gia Lai Provincial Department of Education and Training said that they had verified the content reflected and information spread on social networks related to 2 exam sites of the 2026 High School Graduation Exam.
Previously, the Department coordinated with PA03 Department of Gia Lai Provincial Police to establish a working group to verify two cases.
In which, the first case is a citizen's complaint accusing a candidate of bringing a phone into the exam room at the exam site of Van Canh Ethnic Minority Boarding Secondary and High School (Van Canh commune) but the invigilator did not have any handling measures.
The verification results showed that the reflected content was incorrect. At the beginning of the exam session on June 12, during the time of issuing exam papers and scratch papers for candidates to record information, before the time to open the exam questions and calculate the exam time, the invigilator of exam room 859 discovered candidate H.N. L. Q bringing a mobile phone into the exam room and putting it in the clear bag under the desk drawer.
Immediately after that, the two invigilators seized the phone and handed it over to the Deputy Head of the exam site for preservation in the room for storing personal belongings of candidates, about 50m from the exam room.
The working group determined that the time of discovery of the phone was before the exam papers were distributed.
Through working with 5 candidates in the same exam room, they all confirmed that the exam papers had not been distributed at the time of the incident.
At the same time, checking candidate H.N. L. Q's phone, no images of exam questions, exam papers or signs of using applications to transfer information to the outside were found.
The second incident related to information spread on social networks that a 12A10 student at the exam site of Nguyen Thai Hoc High School No. 1 (Quy Nhon Nam ward) brought a phone into the exam room and used it to look up answers.
According to the Department of Education and Training, this reflection is also unfounded.
The verification results showed that in all 3 exam sessions, candidate N.T. T (exam room 184) sat in convenient positions for supervisors to observe. The candidate sat at the top desk in Math and the third desk in Literature in the same elective subject.
Before each exam session, invigilators remind candidates to only bring items to the exam room according to regulations and conduct inspections according to regulations.
The exam supervision process took place normally, no violations were recorded.
In addition, the working group worked with 18 candidates in the same exam room. All said that they did not detect candidate N.T. T using a phone in all 3 exam sessions.
Working with the working group, candidate N.T. T also affirmed that she did not bring or use any unlicensed electronic devices in the exam room; and said that information spread on social networks had affected her honor, her family and the school.
Through inspection, during the exam period, no violations of exam regulations were recorded at the exam sites of Van Canh Ethnic Minority Boarding Secondary and High School and Nguyen Thai Hoc High School No. 1.
Leaders of Gia Lai Provincial Department of Education and Training said that the Department's point of view is to strictly handle all violations in accordance with regulations, handling violations to the extent they are wrong. Regarding denunciations and reflections related to other exam sites, the Department is continuing to verify and will handle if violations are detected.
As Lao Dong newspaper has reported, since July 10, many articles reflecting and denouncing some candidates showing signs of fraud in the 2026 high school graduation exam have appeared on the social network Threads.
According to the content posted, an account accused candidate N.T. Tr, a 12A10 student of Nguyen Thai Hoc High School No. 1, of secretly bringing a smartphone into the exam room to look up answers.
In addition, some other accounts reflected that candidate T.G.H, a 12A3 student, taking the exam at exam site No. 008 - Tuy Phuoc High School No. 1, used a mobile phone during the Physics and Chemistry exams.
