At about 10:15 am this morning (May 5), a multi-vehicle chain collision occurred on Pham Van Dong street, in the direction from Ciputra to Thang Long bridge (direction to Noi Bai airport). Initial information shows that the HOWO truck showed signs of brake failure, leading to a chain collision.
At the scene, many vehicles were damaged, and traffic in the area was congested for a long time. Immediately after the accident occurred, the Traffic Police Team 6 - Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police quickly arrived, deployed traffic diversion, and coordinated first aid for the victims.
According to initial records, the HOWO truck with license plate 29E-491. XX crushed a white car with license plate 88A-531. XX.
In front of this car were 2 trucks with license plates 88C-078. XX and 99K-125. XX; behind were mail car 29H-868. XX, military vehicle and tractor-trailer with license plate 98R-029. XX. Colliding with the tractor-trailer's rear was a truck with license plate 29H-286. XX and a Hyundai Starex car.
The victims in the white car, including 3 people (2 females, 1 male driver), were taken to the emergency room. The HOWO driver left the scene.
Talking to reporters, the leader of Traffic Police Team No. 6 confirmed the incident and said that functional agencies are investigating and clarifying the cause. The extent of damage to people and property has not yet been determined.
