On the morning of August 31, people traveling on Highway 719B, Ham My Commune, Ham Thuan Nam District, Binh Thuan Province discovered an eroded section on the roadside.
At the scene, this location has subsided, the edge of the roadbed and the concrete slope are exposed. Below is the soil and rock that has collapsed due to erosion, creating a frog mouth. The length of the eroded section is about 10m.
Mr. Kha - a nearby resident said that he saw the crack open at noon on August 30. By the afternoon of the same day, it had subsided and the crack was large, so he brought out a wooden stick to plant as a warning to passersby and called the commune.
On the morning of August 31, at the scene, there were workers, machines, sand and cement working to fix the problem.
The erosion site is on the right side of the Phan Thiet – Ke Ga road, about 1km from National Highway 1, the asphalt pavement and other works have been completed. This location has also been flooded since August 28.
This is an "unprecedented" flood that caused houses and dragon fruit gardens in the area to be deeply submerged and the water gradually receded from August 29 until now. However, the location at the foot of this road is a low-lying area, near a sewer, so the water stagnates and drains slowly. This location also has a lamp post and a corrugated iron median strip.
The project to renovate the coastal axis road DT 719B, Phan Thiet - Ke Ga section, 25.61 km long, has a total investment of about 1,274 billion VND. The project started on November 25, 2020, with a construction period of 38 months.
According to plan, the project was to be completed by the end of January 2024, however, due to site clearance issues, the construction period has been extended to December 31, 2024.
