The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has issued a document responding to voters and people at the 9th Session of the 15th National Assembly.
Accordingly, voters in some provinces and cities across the country reported that there is still environmental pollution, waste treatment, and wastewater treatment in big cities.
Environmental protection and environmental sanitation issues such as urban waste management and treatment and wastewater treatment have not been improved, continuing to be two main sources of pollution for rivers, lakes and other water sources.
Voters and people hope that the Government and competent authorities will have better solutions to handle and overcome the situation in the coming time.
In the response document, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment acknowledged voters' opinions reflecting the current environmental pollution situation.
In recent times, the Government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment have focused on directing strongly, implementing simultaneous measures to reduce and overcome environmental pollution.
Regarding wastewater treatment, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment said that in January 2025, the Prime Minister issued Directive No. 02/CT-TTg on urgent solutions to strengthen the control and treatment of water pollution in some river basins.
The Prime Minister has also directed the implementation of specific task groups and solutions for some river basins to enhance the effectiveness of controlling and handling water pollution.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment also sets out specific urgent tasks and solutions for each hot spot of environmental pollution.
Regarding the Nhue River - Day River basin, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment said that it is focusing on handling pollution of Hanoi's inner-city rivers (To Lich, Nhue, Lu, Set, Kim Nguu rivers are the main sources of pollution for the Nhue - Day River).
Implement solutions for water supply and drainage, flow circulation (operating Thanh Liet culvert and Yen So pumping station); focus on treating wastewater of Hanoi City and treating wastewater of some craft villages, industrial clusters of Ha Nam and landfills of Hoa Binh.
Implement an environmental restoration project, unblocking the flow to solve water pollution of the Nhue - Day and Chau Giang rivers.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, to solve the problem of water pollution in river basins, in addition to comprehensive and macro-level solutions at the central level, local-level projects, works and solutions are the most important.
To gradually reduce the level of pollution, the current priority task is to treat domestic wastewater (through centralized or dispersed forms), which requires great determination and responsibility of localities.
Currently, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has been urgently implementing tasks, specifically assessing the surface water environmental load-bearing capacity of the Nhue - Day river basin.
Currently drafting a Plan for surface water quality management for these river basins and expected to be submitted to the Prime Minister in the third quarter of 2025...
In addition, the Ministry is urgently building a shared database on waste sources, including the content of statistics on waste classification.
Continue to strengthen inspection of compliance with environmental protection laws for facilities granted environmental licenses by the Ministry in river basins (yearly).
