The Office of the People's Committee of Hoa Binh province informed that the unit has just issued a document on inspecting and handling an illegal wood processing factory in Quyet Thang commune, Lac Son district.
Accordingly, on December 12, the People's Committee of Hoa Binh province received a report from Lao Dong Newspaper "about Hoa Binh - The Wood Workshop of Thanh An Forestry Production and Trading Company Limited brazenly leveling hills and building on forestry land in Lac Son district.
Regarding this issue, Vice Chairman of Hoa Binh Provincial People's Committee Dinh Cong Su directed and assigned Lac Son District People's Committee to focus on directing the inspection and handling of illegal wood processing workshops in Quyet Thang commune according to the content reported by Lao Dong Newspaper; for contents beyond the authority, propose and report to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee according to regulations.
Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper received a report from people in Quyet Thang commune, Lac Son district, Hoa Binh province about a wood workshop that had carelessly dug up a hill, "sprouted" up and brazenly existed for nearly ten years.
According to the reporter's records, a part of the hill that was growing forestry trees with an area of about 2,000 square meters was cut down by this unit, deeply hollowed out, then leveled to make a gathering and processing area for wood.
The leader of Quyet Thang Commune People's Committee confirmed that this wood workshop was built on forestry land and had not completed the procedures to change the land use purpose, but the commune did not know whether it was licensed or not.
"The local government has coordinated with the district to handle the above facility, but it still blatantly exists until now" - the leader of Quyet Thang Commune People's Committee informed.
Mr. Quach Anh Tuan - Deputy Head of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Lac Son district - said that it is still not determined whether the wood production facility of Thanh An Forestry Production and Trading Company Limited has a business license or not, but the fact that the facility was built illegally on forestry land is clear.
"The district will review the production and business activities of this unit to clarify the violations," said Mr. Tuan.
Ever resolute in handling violations
Previously, at the end of April 2024, Lac Son District People's Committee issued a document by Mr. Bui Van Khanh - Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee - to its affiliated units regarding strengthening measures to manage forest product production, processing and trading establishments in the district.
According to the People's Committee of Lac Son district, there are 10 establishments producing, processing and trading forest products in the area, especially establishments producing and processing acacia veneer, peeled boards and sawn bamboo, contributing to the consumption of forestry products on the spot, creating jobs for hundreds of workers,...
However, during operation, some establishments still have limitations such as not fully implementing state regulations during operation; using land to build establishments and production and business locations for the wrong purpose; establishments are spontaneously formed, do not register for business, and use floating raw wood sources, causing difficulties for the management activities of competent authorities in forest product management.
