On October 6, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Van Dinh - Chairman of Ngoc Long Commune People's Committee said that a sinkhole appeared in a rice field in Ban Rang village.
"The locality has sent forces down to inspect the scene and put up warning ropes to ensure the safety of the people.
The sinkhole is about 100m2 wide, about 10m deep from the surface to the water, about 50m from the residential area. Currently, the hole is showing signs of continuing to erode and expand," the leader informed.
According to the Chairman of Ngoc Long Commune People's Committee, the village elders said that the location where the sinkhole appeared before was a large lake. After the filling process, the flattening has become rice fields. Most likely due to heavy rain, the ground subsided, creating a deep hole. The locality has reported to the superiors to come down to check and find a solution.
