After the riverbank break incident in Thanh Hoa, the authorities requested the brick factory to mobilize machinery to quickly fix the problem.

On February 5, speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper reporter, Mr. Nguyen Hoai Nam - Deputy Director of Thanh Hoa Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said that the unit is currently coordinating with functional agencies to direct the brick factory to mobilize forces and means to fix the incident of the broken bank of Nha Le River (section through Doai Dong village, Quang Yen commune, Quang Xuong district).

“Mai Chu Brick Factory also committed to rebuilding the broken riverbank before February 9. Due to water flow conditions, the foundation cannot be built quickly, so it will take a few days to handle the above problem,” Mr. Nam informed.

Previously, as Lao Dong Newspaper reported, on the afternoon of February 4, a section of Nha Le River (flowing through Quang Yen Commune, Quang Xuong District) near Mai Chu Brick Factory collapsed (about 20 meters), causing river water to overflow into the soil exploitation area of this brick factory.

It is known that this is the river section connecting Hoang River and Ly River, with the task of regulating water to fight drought and serve irrigation for agricultural production.

After the incident, Quang Xuong Irrigation Branch (under Song Chu Company) drained the Ly River to limit the amount of water flowing into Nha Le River.

The initial cause of the landslide was determined to be the brick factory draining water from the Nha Le River to raise fish, causing the bank to break.
