Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the investment project to build Ngoc Hoi bridge and the approach roads at both ends of the bridge, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh said that in the exciting atmosphere of the emulation to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), with 250 investment projects being organized to start construction and inaugurate across the country, Hanoi People's Committee organized the groundbreaking ceremony for the investment project to build Ngoc Hoi bridge and the approach roads at both ends of the bridge.


According to the general planning of Hanoi Capital to 2045 with a vision to 2065, Hanoi City has 19 road bridges across the Red River.
Ngoc Hoi Bridge is one of 7 bridges that Hanoi City has developed a plan to start construction in 2025 to enhance connectivity with provinces in the Capital region.
This is a bridge of important political and economic significance, strengthening the connection between Hanoi city and Hung Yen province, ensuring security, national defense, enhancing economic and cultural exchanges, urban development, tourism on both sides of the Red River, promoting the economic growth target of over 8% in 2025 and double digits in the following years.
The investment project to build Ngoc Hoi bridge and the approach roads at both ends of the bridge has a total length of about 7.5km. The part in Hanoi is about 5.2km long; of which, the main bridge is about 680m long (the main cable-stayed span is 350m long, the tower is 126m high); the part in Hung Yen province is about 2.3km (including the approach road and the parallel road on both sides); the bridge is 38m wide, including 06 lanes for motor vehicles and 02 lanes for mixed vehicles.
The project has a total investment of about 11,844 billion VND, including the Hanoi city budget and the central budget; completion time is 2028.
Implementing the Government's direction in Resolution No. 77/NQ-CP dated April 10, 2025, Hanoi City has focused on directing strongly, along with the attention and support of central ministries and branches and the consensus of support from the people in the project area, up to now, after about 4 months, the Ngoc Hoi Bridge and the approach roads at both ends of the bridge have met the conditions to start construction according to regulations, meeting the set progress.
Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh emphasized that after the groundbreaking ceremony, he requested the investor and units participating in the project to enhance their determination and responsibility, focus maximum resources and material resources, construct urgently and scientifically, ensure technical, quality, safety, and progress, contributing to realizing the sustainable development goals of the capital.
