Lawyer Nguyen Thu Trang, Deputy Director of Heva Law Company Limited, said that according to item E.2 of Appendix E QCVN 41:2024/BGTVT, this is the I.402 sign named "End of priority road section".
In terms of legal significance, the I.402 sign plays the role of announcing the end of the priority scope of a route.
This means that, from the time this sign is placed, the privilege of the vehicle to go ahead is no longer valid.
Traffic participants are required to comply with the usual rules of yield according to the Road Traffic Law at subsequent intersections.
However, reality shows that many traffic participants still maintain the habit of speeding and overtaking recklessly because they think they are traveling on a large road, leading to a high risk of accidents.
If they continue to maintain the habit of not giving way after passing through license plate I.402, vehicle drivers will face extremely strict administrative sanctions specified in Decree 168/2024/ND-CP.
For cars and similar types of cars, based on Clauses 5 and 16, Article 6 of the Decree, the act of not decelerating or not stopping and giving way when driving a vehicle from a non-priority road to a priority road, from a branch road to a main road, or not giving way to a vehicle traveling on a priority road, a main road from any direction to the intersection will be fined from 4,000,000 VND to 6,000,000 VND according to Point n, Clause 5, Article 6.
In addition, the additional penalty form for deducting points from the Driver's License is also very strict. In normal violations, drivers will be deducted 2 points on the Driver's License by the management system.
The measure will be stronger if this act of not letting go causes a traffic accident, at that time the driver will be fined at the above level and at the same time deducted a maximum of 10 points on the Driver's License according to Point d Clause 16 Article 6.
For motorbikes, the fine is applied based on Clause 1 and Clause 13 Article 7 of the Decree. Vehicle drivers who do not comply with the regulations on letting go at intersections will face a fine of between 200,000 VND and 400,000 VND according to Point d Clause 1 Article 7.
For the group of vehicles that are specialized motorbikes and tractors, Article 8 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP stipulates that similar acts of not giving way at intersections will be subject to fines ranging from 800,000 VND to 1,000,000 VND.
Along with financial sanctions, if drivers of these types of vehicles cause traffic accidents, they must also bear the form of deducting points from their certificates or driver's licenses, which is strictly equivalent to other types of vehicles.
