BMW's interior design is often quite simple, each BMW has a screen, a button and often uses leather material. However, according to information from the company, this is about to change.
At the 2025 Consumer Electronics Exhibition (CES) taking place in the US, a new display product called by BMW as " Panoramic Vision" was launched with a display running at 2 A-pillars at the foot of the windshield. Part of this change is the new steering wheel design that may surprise many people.
The new steering wheel no longer has a speed monitor, so drivers do not need to look through the steering wheel to know the parameters. BMW believes this is a good opportunity to take advantage of this space. Similar to what has been seen on the Neue Klasse concept models, BMW converts the cross-section to a vertical section, turning the 3-spoke steering wheel into a 4-spoke one. This makes the steering wheel appear to be upside down.
According to the company, moving the display sign to the windshield will improve driver concentration and expand space. The screen consists of 3 parts, in which the part in front of the driver is a digital clock.
The remaining parts can be customized with the utilities from the entertainment information system, containing up to 6 applications arranged according to your wishes such as: table tennis, weather, audio and positioning. Users can also display the power and torque along with the acceleration index.
The new design will be applied to electric vehicles as well as internal combustion engines of the Neue Klasse line, expected to launch in late 2025.
The Panoramic Vision is also just a part of the new BMW iDrive and Operating System X systems that the company launched at CES this year. The system also includes the option to display 3D information on the windshield, providing automatic guidance and steering information.
