On the afternoon of January 7, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phu - Director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Construction confirmed that the locality has agreed to pilot the installation of electric motorbike battery exchange cabinets and charging stations in Nha Trang area.
Currently, functional agencies are coordinating with businesses to pilot the installation of electric motorbike battery exchange cabinets in some locations along the coast of Nha Trang. After that, the Department of Construction will report to the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province before simultaneously deploying.
According to research, currently 23 parking lots along Tran Phu street, Nha Trang ward are installed with electric motorbike battery exchange cabinets, and are also deploying charging stations, preparing for the synchronous operation of infrastructure to serve green vehicles in the near future.
According to records, battery exchange cabinets are located in convenient locations, concentrated in parking lots along Nha Trang beach - an area with high density of vehicles and tourists.
The installation was deployed in advance to anticipate the launch plan of a series of new electric motorbikes from some electric vehicle manufacturers, including models using battery swaps instead of accompanying batteries.
In terms of design, battery-changed electric motorcycle lines are still fully equipped with features similar to the battery-based version.
The only difference lies in the battery storage compartment, designed with two compartments, allowing the installation of one or two removable batteries, convenient for quick replacement at public battery exchange stations.
Each battery has a capacity of 1.5 kWh. Users can choose to rent one or two batteries depending on their travel needs. The current battery rental fee is 200,000 VND per battery per month. The battery exchange fee is 9,000 VND per time, including charging costs.
According to information from the deployment unit, with standard conditions, each battery after exchange can help the car travel a maximum of about 85 km.
The battery exchange method is expected to shorten the charging time, increase flexibility for users, especially in tourist and service areas with high travel frequency such as the Tran Phu route.
The simultaneous installation of battery exchange stations and charging stations at 23 parking lots along the coast of Nha Trang is considered a specific step in the roadmap to promote green transportation in Nha Trang, contributing to reducing emissions, limiting noise and gradually forming the habit of using electric vehicles in the community.
Mr. Nguyen Vu Long - a resident of Nha Trang ward assessed that the simultaneous installation of battery exchange cabinets and electric motorbike charging stations along Tran Phu street is very necessary, especially for crowded tourist areas like Nha Trang.
Mr. Nguyen Vu Long said that if the infrastructure is adequate, people and tourists will be more assured when using electric vehicles, no longer worried about running out of battery in the middle of the road.
In the long term, I expect electric vehicles to be used more, both saving travel costs and reducing noise and dust for the coastal road. This is a suitable direction for Nha Trang to develop green and sustainable tourism," Mr. Nguyen Vu Long shared.
