Bugatti has announced a new speed record set by the special edition W16 Mistral. The convertible reached a top speed of 453.91 km/h (282 mph). With this achievement, the W16 Mistral World Record Car has become the fastest convertible in the world. The record was set on November 9, 34 km/h (21 mph) faster than the top speed of the regular Bugatti W16 Mistral.
This unique Bugatti W16 Mistral World Record Car costs up to 14,000,000 euros ($14,743,700). This figure is nearly 3 times the starting price compared to the popular version.
The World Record Car package includes Jet Orange graphics on the lower body and matching wheels, contrasting with the black carbon exterior. Likewise, the cabin has been tweaked with orange accents.
Although Bugatti did not mention any upgrades to the chassis or powertrain, it revealed that the record was the result of "meticulous planning prepared after months of testing."
Bugatti also said that this unique W16 Mistral belongs to a special customer who owns the entire world record collection of Bugatti cars. This "dream garage" includes:
The Veyron 16.4 Super Sport reached 431.07 km/h (267.8 mph) in 2010; the Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse reached 408.84 km/h (254 mph) in 2013, and the Chiron Super Sport 300+ set an impressive record of 490.48 km/h (304.7 mph) in 2019.
