On February 25, images and clips circulated on social networks recording the scene of a child sitting in front of a man driving a car with license plate 89A-504. xx, next to him was another man.
Immediately after receiving people's feedback, the Director of the Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) directed the Traffic Police Department - Hanoi City Police to urgently verify and clarify the incident.
Using professional measures, Road Traffic Police Team No. 5 (Traffic Police Department - Hanoi City Police) quickly identified the vehicle driver as Mr. D. T. T. (born in 1981, from Hung Yen) and invited him to work.
At the police station, Mr. D. T. T confessed that in the afternoon of February 22, he had his child sit in the same driver's seat while driving a car on Vu Duc Than street, in Viet Hung ward, Hanoi City.
Based on the verification results, Road Traffic Police Team No. 5 made a record and issued a decision to fine Mr. D. T. T. for the act of carrying a child under 10 years old and under 1.35m tall sitting in the same row of seats with the driver (except in cases where the vehicle has only one row of seats) or not using appropriate safety equipment for children, as prescribed in point m, clause 3, Article 6 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP of the Government.
The Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police recommends that allowing children to sit in the same driver's seat or carry young children while driving is an illegal act, and also poses a risk of serious traffic accidents, threatening the safety of both adults and children.
