In early August 2025, the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention received information from G7 Taxi Management Joint Stock Company about the appearance of cases of forging the G7 Taxi Headquarters in cyberspace.
Through verification, when customers search for keywords such as "Taxi G7" or "G7 General Station" online, non-commercial phone numbers will appear. If customers contact through these fake numbers, the subject will push information to Zalo groups: "Supported driving"; "Convenient driving" to mobilize private vehicles to run the service. For each trip, drivers must return 15% of the total amount received to the Forged Police Station.
The Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department has clarified that the subject who impersonated the G7 Summit is N.T.L (born in 1988; residing in Phuc Loi, Hanoi), who used to be a taxi driver.
Because the company was dissolved and L was unemployed, he created a Gmail account, then ran ads for the phone number impersonating the hotline of some taxi companies.
At the police station, N.T. L realized that the act of forging a taxi hotline was a violation of the law, and at the same time removed all advertisements related to fake phone numbers of taxi companies, promising not to repeat the offense.
On September 9, 2025, the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention, Hanoi City Police issued a Decision to fine N.T.L 7.5 million VND for the act of "forging organizations, individuals and disseminating false information that harms the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals" as prescribed in Point n, Clause 3, Article 102 of Decree No. 15/2020/ND-CP dated February 3, 2020 of the Government regulating administrative sanctions in the fields of post, telecommunications, radio frequency, information technology and electronic transactions; amended and supplemented in Decree No. 14/2022/ND-CP dated January 27, 2022 of the Government.
The Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention and Control, CATP Hanoi recommends that people only book their vehicles through the phone number of the switchboard or the official website of taxi companies; Carefully check the logo, driver's uniform, and license plate before getting on the bus; When detecting signs of suspected impersonation and fraud, people should immediately report to the authorities or contact the hotline of taxi companies for support.
