The police noted that from January 1, 2025, Decree 168/2024/ND-CP stipulates administrative sanctions for violations of road traffic safety and order; deduction of points, restoration of driving license points in effect.
Accordingly, some violations of road traffic safety order have increased fines compared to before, such as drivers running red lights being fined 18-20 million VND (old level was 4-6 million VND).
In order to effectively implement the newly issued laws, the traffic police forces of localities are actively implementing many synchronous measures, with the motto of focusing on both propaganda and strict handling.
The main goal of sharply increasing the fine according to Decree 168/2024/ND-CP is to raise awareness of compliance with traffic laws, thereby contributing to reducing accidents and congestion.
The police requested violators to go to the police headquarters where the fine was detected or to the police station where they resided to resolve the violation according to regulations.
When paying the fine, car drivers need to prepare the following documents: Vehicle registration, certificate of technical safety inspection and environmental protection, driver's license of the violator, citizen identification card of the violator (photocopy 1 copy of each type of document).
The police recommend that people continue to raise awareness of voluntarily complying with traffic laws, for their own safety and that of others.
