Top 100 Innovators in the World
With 11,910 active patents worldwide, Michelin is recognized by Clarivate TM as one of the “Top 100 Innovators in the World”.
“Michelin’s innovative power and expertise have profoundly changed the history of mobility. Today, these foundations enable us to meet new challenges in new areas and activities that change lives,” said Florent Menegaux, Chairman of the Michelin Group.
In 1891, the first removable tire was invented, followed by the radial tire in 1946 - which lasted two to four times longer than conventional tires, significantly improved safety and reduced fuel consumption. Innovations such as the VISION concept tire, a bio-based airless tire that connects and regenerates its tread surface to adapt to different terrains; or a tire made from 63% sustainable materials, introduced at Le Mans 2023.
MaxTouch technology meets diverse user needs
MaxTouch technology focuses on optimizing the contact area between the tire and the road. Even pressure distribution helps minimize uneven wear on the surface. The larger contact area between the tire and the road increases grip in slippery conditions or when cornering hard. The optimized tread design reduces rolling resistance. Tires with MaxTouch technology have a longer life than conventional tires, helping to save on tire replacement costs, reduce emissions and contribute to environmental protection.
MaxTouch technology is widely applied by Michelin on many different tire lines, flexible and effective to meet diverse usage needs. Users can check tire wear by observing the wear indicator. When the rubber reaches the mark's designated level, replace the tire.
