The Vietnam Road Administration has just spoken out to answer citizens' questions about the ban onpikcup trucks.

Sharing on the Ministry of Construction's Information Portal, reader V.T. T said that there are currently many opposing opinions regarding pickup trucks (pickup trucks with double cabs) and van trucks with registered carrying capacity of less than 950 kg when moving in Ho Chi Minh City. When encountering no-entry sign P.106a and no-truck signs according to time frames, how to comply?

After researching, the Vietnam Road Administration has the following opinions:

Regarding the classification of road vehicles: Article 34 of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety has stipulated the types of road vehicles, and Clause 6 of this Article assigns the Ministry of Transport to detail this Article.

Based on the above regulations, the Ministry of Transport (now the Ministry of Construction) has issued Circular No. 53/2024/TT-BGTVT dated November 15, 2024, Regulating the classification of road vehicles and identification marks for motor vehicles using clean energy, green energy, and environmentally friendly.

Accordingly, passenger cars up to 08 seats, excluding the driver's seat, are specified in Appendix I issued with this Circular; common trucks are specified in Appendix IV issued with this Circular.

In which, the characteristics for classifying pickup cars, single-cabin pickup trucks, double-cabin pickup trucks, and VAN trucks have been specified.

Clause 2, Article 11 of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety stipulates that road traffic participants must comply with road traffic signs in the following order: Traffic controller's signal, traffic light signal, road sign, road markings... Therefore, road traffic participants must comply with all types of road traffic signs in the above order.
