The highlight of the Bharat Mobility 2025 Auto Expo in India is not a cutting-edge car or a revolutionary electric vehicle, but a custom-designed bus. The bus was designed by DC2 Mercury, a studio headed by veteran Indian auto designer Dilip Chhabria.
DC2 Mercury is best known for creating India's first supercar (DC Avanti) as well as a number of custom-designed cars. Designer Dilip Chhabria brought his years of experience to the project.
The Goldmedal has an aerodynamic body with a large area of glass that completely covers the front and the wheels. The shape of the car is a combination of a high-speed train and an airplane, although it is based on the chassis of a regular bus. According to many sources, the model will most likely use a forward-drive system.
The exterior is adorned with vibrant red accents and Goldmedal branding. The bodywork uses composite materials from the aerospace industry. The LED headlights and taillights are also custom-made, with the latter surrounded by a large screen.
According to the company, when parked, the vehicle can be transformed thanks to 3 hydraulic extensions (2 on the sides and 1 at the back). Unlike traditional camper models, the Goldmedal bus uses the body space to expand the display floor, providing more space to display its products.
Goldmedal Electricals said it has invested around $2 million in the development of the vehicle. The company is counting on recouping that investment through a marketing campaign, starting with its debut at the Bharat Mobility Expo. The bus will then embark on a nationwide tour.
