Just one moment of subjectivity when stopping and parking vehicles improperly on the highway can lead to particularly serious consequences.
According to the Traffic Police (CSGT), many vehicle drivers still have the mentality that stopping for a few minutes to rest, go to the toilet or just turning on the hazard warning light is already safe.
However, recent statistics from the Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) show that on some highways, more than 40% of traffic accidents are related to illegal parking, especially in the period from 6 pm the previous day to 5 am the next morning.
According to the Traffic Police Department, many people when traveling on highways have a mentality that they can easily observe vehicles stopping and parking in front to proactively reduce speed or change direction to avoid collisions.
However, at high speed, from the time of detecting the obstacle to when the driver reacts and the vehicle stops, it only takes a few seconds. In many cases, when the driver detects the car stopping in front, an accident has already occurred or there is no longer enough distance to handle it safely.
From the above reality, the traffic police force resolutely handles acts of illegal parking and stopping on highways, and at the same time handles cases of not placing warning devices behind vehicles according to regulations when vehicles encounter problems.
On highways, warning devices must be placed behind vehicles at a minimum distance of 150m.

The Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety also clearly stipulates that vehicle drivers are only allowed to stop and park on the expressway at the prescribed place.
In case of technical problems or other force majeure circumstances forcing the vehicle to stop or park, the vehicle must be moved to the emergency lane in the same direction of traffic and emergency warning lights must be turned on.
In case the vehicle cannot move into the emergency stop lane, the driver must turn on the emergency warning light, place a sign or warning light behind the vehicle with a minimum distance of 150m, and quickly notify the traffic police force performing tasks to ensure traffic order and safety on the route or the expressway management agency.
