The Vietnam Register temporarily appointed two units to test child safety equipment on cars, meeting technical standards.

The Vietnam Register has just temporarily appointed the Motor Vehicle Testing Center and VCT Service Joint Stock Company to test safety equipment for children to use on cars according to QCVN 123:2024/BGTVT.

According to the requirements of the Vietnam Register, the two designated units must fully comply with the regulations and guidelines of competent state agencies. At the same time, these units are responsible before the law and the Vietnam Register for the test results.

The designation of two testing units is carried out in the context of new regulations on product and goods quality management starting to apply from July 1, 2026.

According to current regulations, products and goods are classified according to three levels of risk including low, medium and high. The classification is the basis for applying quality management measures, determining conformity certification requirements and organizing appropriate certification implementation.

Safety equipment for children used in cars is classified into groups of products and goods with average risk levels. Therefore, products must be certified and declared to be compliant according to the provisions of law on standards and technical regulations.

Conformity certification must be carried out by a recognized certification organization. Before putting products on the market, businesses must complete certification procedures and declare conformity according to regulations.

Businesses must also be responsible for the legality, completeness and accuracy of technical documents, and at the same time ensure product quality when put into circulation in the market.

In the initial stage of implementing new regulations, the Ministry of Construction requests the Vietnam Register to urgently organize the certification and declaration of conformity for safety equipment for children in cars.

The temporary appointment of two testing units aims to create conditions for product evaluation and testing activities to be implemented, thereby supporting businesses to carry out necessary procedures before putting equipment on the market.
