Sharing with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Le Cam Van said that recently she was traveling on the Hanoi - Lao Cai expressway when a tire burst in Phu Tho. This is the first time she has encountered an incident, so she was quite flustered at first.
“I heard a loud explosion, the car shook violently, so I was very scared. After that, I tried to stay calm, slow down and then put the car in the emergency stop lane,” Ms. Van recounted.
Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thai said that he had encountered a tire blowout situation even though the car did not move but only parked in the hot sun for a long time in Viet Tri ward, Phu Tho. According to Mr. Thai, at the time of the incident, the car emitted a loud explosion that startled many people around.
Regarding the issue of handling tire breaks in hot weather conditions, a representative of the Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) said that in recent days, prolonged intense heat has caused the road surface temperature, especially on highways, to increase.
Notably, when vehicles move at high speeds, the combination of ambient temperature and high friction causes tire pressure to increase rapidly. This is a factor that increases the risk of tire blowouts, leading to loss of control and causing serious traffic accidents.
To ensure safety, the Traffic Police Department recommends that transport units, vehicle owners and drivers fully implement preventive measures.
Before departure, drivers need to regularly check the technical condition of the tires. At the same time, drivers also need to check the wear and pressure of the tires to promptly detect signs of cracks, bumps or tires that have expired," a representative of the Traffic Police Department recommended.
The representative also noted that drivers and vehicle owners should absolutely not use tires that do not meet quality standards or are degraded. Vehicle owners need to proactively replace damaged tires to ensure safety when participating in traffic.
In addition to checking vehicles, the skills and awareness of drivers play a decisive role. Functional forces request drivers to proactively reduce speed and maintain a safe distance when traveling on expressways in harsh weather conditions," said a representative of the Traffic Police Department.
In case of detecting unusual tire signs, drivers need to quickly move the vehicle to a safe location such as the emergency stop lane for inspection and handling; avoid stopping and parking suddenly in the middle of the road, causing danger to other vehicles.
To improve the effectiveness of accident prevention, the Traffic Police force said it will strengthen patrols and inspections on roads. Cases where vehicles circulate without ensuring technical safety conditions as prescribed will be strictly handled according to the provisions of law.
