Recently, many electric motorbike stores in Ho Chi Minh City recorded an increase in the number of customers coming to refer to and buy vehicles compared to before. According to dealers, the main reason stems from the high increase in gasoline prices, causing consumers to consider vehicles with lower usage costs.
At an electric motorbike store in Binh Dong ward (HCMC), Mr. Tran Quoc Hung - a salesman said that the number of customers coming to see the car in recent days has increased significantly. If previously the store sold about 5-6 cars per day, now this number can reach 15-20 units, especially on evenings and weekends. Currently at the store, the number of cars is also quite limited.
According to Mr. Hung, many customers choose car models priced from 30-50 million VND, suitable for daily travel needs in urban areas. Many people said that the cost of refueling is increasing, causing them to start recalculating their travel expenses.
At another motorbike dealership in Duc Nhuan ward, Ms. Le Thu Ha - a consultant also said that the number of customers coming to learn about electric vehicles has increased sharply. "Previously, customers mainly asked about gasoline scooters, but recently many people actively asked about electric vehicles because the cost of electric charge is significantly cheaper than gasoline," Ms. Ha said.
Some consumers said they are starting to consider changing vehicles. Mr. Nguyen Hoang Nam (Binh Hung commune) said that his gasoline motorbike has been used for many years, while fuel costs are increasing. "If switching to electric vehicles, monthly travel costs can be significantly reduced," Mr. Nam shared.
According to experts, along with the fuel cost factor, the trend of switching to electric motorbikes is also driven by the orientation of developing environmentally friendly vehicles in large cities. The electric motorbike market in Vietnam is therefore forecast to continue to grow in the coming years.
