According to Omoda & Jaecoo Vietnam (O&J), Omoda C5 SHS is a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version and is the company's strategic card in 2026. This version not only increases choices for customers besides the internal combustion engine version but is also an important orientation product in the context of the Vietnamese car market being strongly greened.
Compared to the internal combustion engine version, the C5 SHS has some differences such as using a multi-link rear suspension instead of a torsional beam for smoother operation. The car still owns other standard equipment such as Sony speakers, two-layer glass in the front door to increase sound insulation and a multi-functional ADAS driving assist system.

The C5 PHEV version has dimensions of length x width x height of 4,447 x 1,824 x 1,588 mm, while the gasoline version is 4,400 x 1,830 x 1,588 mm. The hybrid version is 47 mm longer than the gasoline version, but the width and length are unchanged. Positioned in the B-segment, the C5 SHS is expected to face a series of tough competitors such as Toyota Corolla Cross, Honda HR-V, Mitsubishi X-Force. Fierce competition will make manufacturers have to calculate a lot when pricing.
The car is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine combined with an electric motor and an external charging-supported battery pack, but O&J has not disclosed detailed specifications as well as pure electric power and range.
The interior stands out with a curved screen cluster, including an entertainment touch screen and a dashboard. Flat-bottomed steering wheel, high-class leather seats in a sporty style. Utilities such as automatic air conditioning, rear seat air vents, sunroof, power trunk, wireless charging.
According to the plan, the Omoda C5 SHS plug-in hybrid will be launched in the Vietnamese market in April, while the C5 internal combustion engine currently has 3 versions with prices ranging from 539 to 669 million VND.

Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of Omoda & Jaecoo Vietnam said that the company is building a Gel-O&J factory (Geleximco Omoda & Jaecoo) in Tien Hai, Hung Yen with an initial investment scale of more than 8,125 billion VND, a usable area of more than 380,000 m2, with a designed capacity of 120,000 vehicles/year. The factory is expected to operate in 2026 and will produce the first Jaecoo J5 model in the third quarter. The factory will produce both gasoline, hybrid and electric vehicles. In the future, the factory will continue to expand to serve both the domestic market and export to Southeast Asian countries.
